HOW WE HANDLE YOUR NONPUBLIC PERSONAL INFORMATION

This is our Privacy Notice.  It explains how we will handle nonpublic personal about you.

“Nonpublic Personal Information “ is personal information about you or your finances that you provide to us or we obtain when we do business with you.  This information is generally private and unavailable to the general public.

When we refer to “we”, “us”, or “our”, we mean Cornerstone General Insurance Agency, Inc.

We collect information about you that is not publicly available.  We may share this information now or in the future.  We do this for several various reasons including: to classify you as a risk so as to comply with the rules and regulations that govern our rate filing, to serve you, to identify you as a customer or our former customer, to process your policy and requests quickly, and to handle and pay any claims associated with your policy.

How information about you is gathered:

From you – when submitting your application or requesting an insurance quote, you may provide information such as your name, address, telephone number, birth date, and Social Security Number.

From your insurance policy history – we keep information about your transactions with us, such as the product/s you have purchased, the amounts you have paid, your account balances, your payment history, and your claims history.

From outside sources – we also utilize some or all of the following independent sources: credit reporting companies, claim history gathering companies, etc.

We may share information about you with a person, company or business that may perform work on our behalf.  Some of these companies may include attorneys, claim adjusters, independent billing companies, property inspection companies, or software programming companies.

Independent auditors, accountants, and/or governmental agencies may also have access to your information.  These companies and agencies must agree to safeguard your nonpublic personal information. 

Privacy laws permit us to disclose information we have about you:
1.  If you give us permission to or tell us to.

2.  To protect against insurance fraud or unauthorized transactions. 

3.  To control the risk of our insurance transactions, to resolve a dispute between us or answer your question.
 
4.  To persons who hold some legal or beneficial interest to you. 

5.  To persons who are acting as a fiduciary or legal  representative on your behalf. 

6.   To industry or professional organizations that ask us for customer information in order to conduct research studies that never identify individuals.

7.  To state guaranty funds or agencies, our attorneys, auditors, accountants, and examiners.

8.  To a consumer protection or reporting agency.

9.  To an actual or potential buyer or an investor in some or all of this company.

10. To comply with federal, state, or local laws, regulations, rules, and other applicable legal requirements.

11.  To comply with a civil, criminal, or regulatory investigation, subpoena, or summons by a governmental authority.

We DO NOT share your nonpublic personal information with any other independent companies such as those that offer mortgage, rental cars, airlines, publishers, auto dealers, health clubs, etc.  WE WILL NEVER SELL YOUR NONPUBLIC PERSONAL INFORMATION.

We have developed a program to keep your nonpublic personal information secure.  Only our employees that have a need to properly process your business have access to that information.  We safeguard your information physically, electronically, and organizationally.  We regularly review our procedures to insure your records are safe.
